On Thursday, 30 May 2024, USI professors Jean-Patrick Villeneuve and Alberto Bitonti, with their research group, will present the results of the project "Deliberative Quality in Trade-Related International Organisations" as part of the Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) at the headquarters of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva in the presence of the institutions' ambassadors and diplomatic corps.

The project "Deliberative Quality in Trade-Related International Organisations" aims to develop the concept of Deliberative Quality, focusing on its application in Trade-Related International Organisations (IOs) by analysing the decision-making processes and stakeholder engagement strategies of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the United Nations Conference on Trade And Development (UNCTAD), and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

The project involves three organisations and includes case studies such as formal trade negotiations at the WTO with the fisheries case, trade analysis and reporting at UNCTAD with the trade strategy, and trade empowerment at the ITC with the women and trade initiative. The study will also use their involvement to validate the framework produced and disseminate the results.

More information on the project and the day's programme can be found at Deliberative Quality in Trade-Related International Organisations | Swiss Network for International Studies (snis.ch)
